Weekly and monthly rates
Beyond a certain length a nightly price stops making sense. Terms for long stays are agreed with the hostel: they are not in the booking engine.
Ways to travel
Someone arriving for an internship, a doctorate or a long secondment is not looking for a place to sleep: they are looking for a place to live for a while. That changes everything — the price is counted by the week, the restaurant stops being a detail, and you need a table to work at that is not the bed.

For one night they are details; for a month they are the difference between workable and not. All four hostels have a restaurant on site; laundry works differently from place to place.
The common areas have large tables and are empty during the day, when the other guests are out. That is the best time to study.
Ferrara, Parma and Reggio Emilia all have universities and research centres. Arriving for a semester, you find a context, not just a room.
A long-stay enquiry does not go through online booking: you write to the hostel with your dates, how long you are staying and what you need. Terms are agreed case by case, because they depend on the season and on how full the hostel is.
In summer availability shrinks: if your period covers July and August, move months in advance.
For people arriving from abroad, the front desk is also where you ask how to get a tax code or find a doctor. It is not an advertised service, but it happens every day.

Where
For a long stay the context matters more than the room.
A historic university, a city that is alive midweek, fifteen minutes from the station.
