Sea and nature parks in Tuscany, or Emilian art cities you cross on foot and by bicycle. Here you find the character of each destination; availability and booking are on the hostels' own sites.

Il borgo tra gli ulivi

Sea · Nature · Archaeology

The gulf of Baratti, the village of Populonia and the San Silvestro mining park are all within half an hour. You sleep up in the hills and go down to the sea. The restaurant serves guests every evening: up here, going out for dinner means taking the car, and almost nobody does.

Bicycle · City walls · Renaissance

Nine kilometres of city walls you can cycle without meeting a single traffic light. Ferrara is the Italian city where a car is least useful. The hostel is inside the Renaissance quarter, walking distance from the Este Castle and Palazzo dei Diamanti.

Music · University · Food

A university city you cross on foot, with an opera season that fills the Teatro Regio and a food tradition that needs no introduction. Fifteen minutes from the station to the centre: convenient if you arrive by train.

Squares · Art · Meeting people

The hostel occupies the first floor of the Chiostro della Ghiara, a seventeenth-century cloister. Downstairs there is a restaurant open to the city and a courtyard that hosts concerts in summer. It is the largest of the four, and in May Reggio fills up with photography exhibitions.

Already decided where?

Go to the hostel's own site for rooms, services, conditions and availability. That is where the information is kept up to date, day by day.

This portal stays the reference point for enquiries involving more than one hostel or more than one city — a route across several stops, or a group that splits between two destinations.
